Who Qualifies for an Xpress Degree?
XPress Degrees are available to all adults (aged over 21), regardless of geographical location, age, sex, race or religion. Eligibility for a degree is based on your prior learning, knowledge and experience, however gained. We have a minimum age of 21 as experience credited towards a degree must be gained AFTER age eighteen to count.

We count experience gained from any or all of the following:

  • Work experience in any field
  • Military/Police training or service
  • Community or public service
  • Previous education
  • Workplace training
  • Participation in clubs, societies, etc
  • Hobbies, travelling, lifestyle experiences
  • Voluntary or community work
  • Independent study - eg reading, viewing, listening, writing

How does this work? Here are a couple of examples:

  • Jenny, a 24 year old homemaker and part time administrator
  • John, a 38 year old builder

Of course, these are only examples, but they do illustrate that whatever your background you can become a graduate on the basis of what you already know.

Take a moment to jot down what you've done with your life since you were eighteen. Everything counts, no matter how trivial or basic you think it is. Homemaking, for example, is excellent experience in Liberal Arts, Childcare, Early Years Education and several other subjects. Even being in hospital or jail could have given you experience if you worked or even just read books and magazines to keep you from being bored. And of course, hobbies are important life experience - count interesting sports and activities, even if you are a spectator rather than a participant. It all counts towards the person you are today, and that person can be a graduate!
